Spoken 2024, the sixth iteration of Australia’s leading custom handbuilt bicycle show, runs June 14-16 at the Seaworks Maritime Precinct in Melbourne’s Williamstown, in the Kurin nation where the Yarra River flows into what is widely known as the vast Port Phillip Bay.

In what promises to be one of, if not, the finest bike products expo in Australia this year, more than 50 companies, including approximately 25 in the category Frame Makers, Builders & Brands from countries including Australia, Denmark, Taiwan, and the UK, have assembled along with leading parts, accessories and apparel brands from around the world.

The show organizers state that “Spoken is an opportunity to savour the craft, the community and the culture of the bicycle. Curated in a unique, friendly environment, you will mingle with the legends, the new-comers and the enthusiasts of the industry - all of who share your passion… Good food, coffee, beer and wine will also be on offer as a fitting accompaniment, making for a perfect evening or day out.”

HBG contributor Kevin Dy points to the following frame builders as well worth a closer look: Auren, which provides fully customizable titanium bikes at a relatively affordable price; Bossi, for some of the most advanced 3-D titanium frames anywhere; VeloCraft for amazing paint jobs; Palmer for fabulous design detail in the frame; WKNDR and Feather to learn more about contemporary frame building in the UK; Prova, Baum, and Bastion for some of the best-known Australian builders; and while in the Bossi booth check out the Celaris line which runs Partington wheels, a new Australian brand with links to 2009 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans.
