HiFi is a close-knit family business, even if they aren’t blood relations. Ever since this Portland, Oregon, company opened their doors in 2013, they’ve had two goals: make really good wheels; and take care of their customers. 

They source their rims from overseas, and each batch goes through a rigorous quality control screening before being handbuilt into wheels in Portland. 

It’s a big market out there for wheels with some really big names. Are you taking a risk to buy a lesser known brand? Maybe, but not with HiFi. They can hold their own among the big guys, no risk at all.

I had to ask a hard question, not very sensitive, but to the point. I asked, “How do you keep the doors open?” The fast answer was “barely!”

 

The entire bike industry is in a downturn, and every one is affected. HiFi was very open, saying yes, they are feeling the crunch, but they believe the rebound is coming. They weather the storm by keeping a good balance between growth, inventory and sales. Their strength is customer relations. It’s not just customer service (theirs is exceptional) but a deep belief that they have a responsibility and a relationship with their customer base that goes beyond business. It’s about community and family.

Let’s not forget, they also make really good wheels for a very good price.
